Any bad hospital stories you’d like to share?

I just took my sister to the E.R. she was having a bad reaction to a bee sting.

We’re waiting in the waiting room and this man is in there with his daughter who is about 4 or 5 years old and her foot is cut open. He says she stepped on a picture frame. The skin is literally hanging off the bottom of her foot and they keep having to bring more towels because she’s bleeding so bad. He turns and looks at my sister and I and tells us he’s getting ready to call a lawyer because they’d been waiting over an hour.

Isn’t that ridiculous? I swear our hospital’s Emergency Room is the slowest in the country..

  5. My sister was in for an operation of her right eye but she came out from operating room and was told that she was operated on the left eye instead and when the surgeon realized the mistake, aborted the procedure. My sister suffered pain because of it. The surgeon apologised since but it shouldn’t have happened.

  6. We live in Canada. I broke my arm really bad when I was working, and the nurse at the hospital said I was a baby. I didn’t even have a tear in my eyes. She then said there’s nothing wrong with this, and grabbed my arm and gave it a yank. The nerve shot up my arm into my neck. I had a compacted fracture. If that wasn’t bad enough, she refused to shut the curtains to allow me to undress for the surgery. I told her I don’t undress in front of anyone but my husband or Dr. She screamed at me that when you check into the hospital, you check your morals at the door. That is only one of many horror experiences I had. Today, I would report her for what she did to me. Back then
I was a coward–but a coward in terrible pain. She kept me waiting all day in
a wheel chair telling me that real emergencies came first.

  7. I sat in a hard chair for five hours with severe abdominal pain finally left to anther facility , why are we paying more each year for health insurance and getting worse care , they are under-staffing and overworking the Hospital staffs and they aren’t getting much more money so where is all this money going, we need a national healtcare program non -profit the only people that should make a profit is the doctors and nurses the rest should go to research , new equipment and larger staffs and facilities

  9. It sounds like our ER.
~It all comes down to funding… To narrow that down for you, it means that they have only a certain amount of funding to pay nurses and doctors to work. So, unfortunatey, there are only a few staff in the ER, which means we have to sit and wait.
    and wait….
    and wait……
    and wait……… for hours….
~~Patients are catergorised by the attention that is needed to your reason for going to ER.
~*~ Heart Stroke and Brain type injuries/emergencies are #1
Burn victims, vehicle crashes are also #1
So, if there is 1 heart attach, 1 fireburn and 1 broken leg…. Guess who waits in pain? The broken leg. Why? “He is in pain, why should he wait? ” Because his life isnt in jeopardy.
There isnt more than 1 or 2 doctors in the ER. Takes $$$ for that. The nurses cant put on a cast or give stitches. Its not a Nurses job these days. (Before the 80′s, it was.)
The girl who cut her foot was waiting because the ER doctor wasnt availible to stitch her up. He was busy helping somebody who had more of a critical situation to handle. Is the girl was at risk of bleeding to death, she would have been attended to.
I am sorry, but this is the way it is. Parents and other patients become very angry over this waiting thing, but they dont realise why they are waiting. Too many people assume why they are waiting.
