My son has one of those med size blow up pools and many bees are always there on the groung just outside the pool I assume to drink spilt water. There are always about 5 to 10 right where he has to step to get in and out. My son has got stung twice from stepping on them in the last 5 days! He is special need and it is very hard to keep him entertained during the day but he loves his pool. It is killing me keeping him in because I do not know how to keep them away! I can not afford to buy any sprays or special chemicals and Though I do not have any animals I live in an area with lots of horses and animals. Please! there has to be away to keep them away from his pool. all I have is grass no flowers or plants to attract them just the pool. PLEASE HELP

They are either in the ground or there is cocoon on the side or under the pool. WE have used a spray called Blast Off
,If you are not afraid of getting stung you can set fire to the cocoon . Just be careful!

1. Have him wear shoes that can get wet and
2. Put 1/2 glass of Orange Juice and add some vodka and let it sit across the yard, they smell it, love to drink it, and die from the alcohol. They will all eventually go to the glass.

While we can certainly sympathize with you, insects seeking water are part of our natural world. If you do whatever you can to eliminate standing water, you will minimize the attraction to the insects. Have you thought of placing some smooth gravel like river stones where your child goes in and out of the pool? This would eliminate the standing water and thus the attraction for the insects.
