Flies in the house?

Two days ago or so, I noticed a lot of flies in my house. I thought that maybe they had flown in when my mother had had the back door ajar for around a half hour. Just a fluke. But ever since, I keep seeing more. I think there have been at least twenty, I just found four more this morning, and I feel like they are getting into the house some how. Doors and windows are usually shut and haven’t been open that much in the past few days because we have central air and it has been raining. Also, when they are open, we have screen doors and screen windows. Do flies nest like bees and could they have it connected to the house? I know I probably will have to call an exterminator if this problem persists but is there any way for me to find the nest or hive or is there no such thing? Is there anything I can do to find out the cause of this problem?

  2. Flies don’t have nests, but they lay their eggs in things like rotting food. Maggots (fly larva) then hatch, and turn into adult flies. If you don’t have a way for them to be coming in from outside, they are probably hatching somewhere in your house. Check your pantry for things like spoiled potatoes, and check where you have your garbage for something that may be harboring maggots. Once you get rid of that, the fly problem will be solved. Good luck!

  3. You don’t need an exterminator for flies.
Check around window sills etc to see if you can find them.Spray around these areas with a product such a Raid for flying insects.
Spray each room and close the door behind you.Do one room at a time till you have your whole house done.
Yes,they can nest in your house but it’s not usually at this time of year. You just got lucky lol.
We lived on a farm and I had this problem every spring.I would find lots of them each day gathered on the window sills. The spray always did the trick.
After you’ve done your rooms,go in with the vacumn and you’ll be able to clean them up.
They don’t have to be from bad food etc.If it’s been cool, they also want to get in.Hence,I had them every spring.

Flies don’t nest- they lay eggs in material that will feed their young. If there isn’t something under the house or nearby where they have their eggs, they might be drawn to some odors. If you clean the area you are finding them in with soap and water, leaving a bit of soap behind to dry, it may do the trick. Exterminators aren’t called often since it’s usually something you can take care of and they are seasonal, so they’ll stop coming around in a few months anyway.
