make a consequence for every time she gets out of bed or a reward for when she stays in bed all night.
also if she is truly scared make a “bed” on the floor beside yours just a blanket or sleeping bag for those scarie nights

I’m sorry. Our three year old has recently started this also.
Has anything changed? Watching anything different?
Routines the same?

Sit on the floor next to the bed til she falls asleep and if she gets up put her back with no talk at all. put a night light in her room and give her a teddy bear that will protect her. My son never slept in my bed either. no no no

I saw this on Supernanny.
Spray some sort of pleasant smell around her bed and say something like “Monster, go away”.

BEEN There and don’t miss it. I put a small lamp with a colored bulb in the kids’s room to help get rid of the shadows. At 3 your child is beginning to learn a lot about the world and it is Very Scary. Especially at night when things look different! Plus many times people talk in front of kids or watch things that play on their minds without even thinking about it.
I remember being 3 and the theme from Perry Mason would send me into a screaming frenzy. I was terrified of that music. These are things kids can’t process. They just know they are afraid. Try to be more sensitive to what the child is seeing on TV and hearing in conversation. Try a small quiet radio or a fan in the child’s room. My son ended up with his own TV and a cartoon network on a timer, because he just could not get to sleep otherwise. Believe me, we tried EVERYTHING prior to that. Many many sleepless nights and the TV won.
Please Don’t Drug Your Child. It is against the law and very dangerous!

It’s all word play!
My four year old did the same thing…
Explain that things look different of a night time and manipulate her brain so to speak!
If she sees monsters, tell her that they are fairies too scared to come out of the dark because she keeps calling them monsters!
Explain how night time makes things look scary, but really they are nice things, let her have a torch and make shadows on the wall to show that night time can be fun…
There is an endless amount of things you can do to help her enjoy the night!
As far as sleeping in Mummy and Daddy’s bed goes, that’s something you’ll have to work through!
Every time she comes into your room, walk her back to her bed, *don’t carry her* and tell her that staying in her own bed all night by herself will help her get big… offer her a surprise in the morning if she stays in her own bed all night…
*special breakfast, helps make breakfast, does something she really wants to do, etc…*
Have fun with it, and good luck!

Hi! I have a 4 year old we went through that with.
I first would ask what he was affraid of and he’d tell me something like “monster’s” or whatever, and I’d ask him to describe this “monster” in detail, so I’d ask him what color, what did he look like, did it have a tail.. ect..ect.. by acting like I understood about monsters, and showing him that he’s not silly, it made him feel more calm, I then got a spray bottle, you can put water in it, and label it “monster spray” or whatever the case “dragon” ect.. and then place it by the side of their bed, it makes them feel protected a little bit.. it doesnt have to be a huge spray bottle that makes a big water mess, just a lil squirt! Lol.. I would ask him to show me before he went to bed, where the monsters usually hide, and then I would spray that corner, or under his bed..whatever, and say that there’s no way these monsters are coming tonight.. monsters HATE this monster spray! he started sleeping in his own bed, and when he slept in his bed all night long, I’d make a huge deal about it the next day.. by saying things like ” I AM SOOOO PROUD OF YOU!! oh My you are growing into such a BRAVE boy!! and talk to my husband about it in front of my son, “hey can you believe Noah slept in his own bed ALL night long????”
isnt he so smart and brave??
That worked for us! just a suggestion! hope it helps!! you can try other things if your not into the spray bottle, like make up a story about how monsters are really scared of some type of object, and then have her sleep with the object beside her bed, or in her bed if it’s soft..
hope it helps! good luck hun!

I didn’t want to use a spray bottle with my kids because I didn’t want them spraying water around their room. We used a sock with another sock rolled up in it and tied shut. We called it a monster fighter. Or whatever they were afraid of at the time. It worked for all of our kids. Or you could let her have something of yours, like a pillow, that she can hug.
