Our tailgating group has trouble with bees. What is the best way to keep them away from the party?

Are they honeybees or little yellow “meat bee’s?’
Honeybees might like a bit of soda in a bowl of their own, somewhere away from you.
“Meat Bees” can be trapped with a device you can get at most hardware stores. It’s a cap that goes over an old mayonaise jar, that allows them in, but not out. You put some meat in the jar, screw on the special lid, and set it away from you.

Have you tried those bee traps? They’re a big plastic jar with some kind of yellowish liquid in it. The liquid attracts the bees through holes in the plastic, but then the bees are trapped in the liquid.
Otherwise, I would invest in a screen tent. I think they’re about $50 and at least put the food in there.
I’m not sure if citronella candles work to deter bees.

Bees do not like loud noise. Yell ‘BOO!’ at them and they fly away.
