Caring for a little wood? Need advice.?

There is a plot of woodland over my garden wall which belongs to the council. It is inaccesible other than over my wall and through a break in the fencing round it. It is on a steep slope and the council can't do anything with it due to the fact it is at the back of an old folks home and by a public field. It is very neglected.

I have been trying to restore it to its former beauty. It is full of sycamore and holly trees and is very pretty. However, some people used to go there and drink, mess it all up and throw there rubbish everywhere. The mechanics nearby threw metal over the wall. I have begun tidying it up and have gotten half way through it. It is full of dead wood but I heard this is healthy for an eco-system, so I shall leave it be other than in a little clearing so I can go out there and work without any tripping hazzards.

I plan on introducing more of the natural flowers which are there, such as fox glove, which will help the bee population. Ah, colony collapse disorder is a scary thing! It is also a small paradise for woodland birds and owls so I may try to see about making it easier for them to nest next year.

I haven't asked permission from the council but I doubt very much that I need it. The place has been used as more of a dump than anything else. Seeing as i'm not really doing anything with it, other than cleaning it up and trying to keep it a beautiful functioning habbitat. I am frightened of turning their attention to it because my council, from first hand experience, is more interested in making money than protecting the natural world.

It also makes a very good spot to read books :)

If you have any suggestions to what I could do then I would be very happy to hear them!!!
