I have bees under the eaves of the roof. Why does everyone want to get rid of them? Don’t they provide some good? Or are they destroying something that I should know about? I have no problems with the bees…they don’t bother us.
Thanks.

I appreciate what they do for our environment. I appreciate how bees pollinate flowers, and I absolutely love honey. I appreciate how wasps are predators for crop pests. The problem is, I’m terrified of them- more so wasps than bees. Thinking about being around a wasp, or several, literally gives me chills. When I’m actually around them, I just seize up and can’t really think about anything except keeping an eye on it and getting away if it comes too close.
I’ve tried learning about them, and I’ve tried thinking rationally about it. I know that they won’t bother me if I don’t bother them, and I’ve heard that they’re probably more afraid of us than we are of them. In the moment, it doesn’t really work out very well, and I have cried before when wasps have landed on me (though I did manage to stay still). If it was a switch I could turn on and off, I would gladly turn and keep it off.
It’s ridiculous and embarrassing, not to mention it takes the fun out of being outside and near places where there are wasps and bees. I want to start my own garden, but I haven’t, for obvious reasons. So, how can I overcome this phobia?

I noticed about 10 one day about 6 weeks ago. I immediately called maintence. They had pest control come to my apartment the next day. But they didn’t do anyhting! They left me a note saying they didn’t see any. So I thought oook maybe they died? NO I saw more a few days later. But it looked like less so I thought I’ll just let them die. NOOO I had my baby about a week later and came home. I saw a couple more and called again! They said ok we’ll have them go again. I have no idea if they actually came or not. But I started seeing them less and less and dead ones around my home so I thought ok NOW they died. BUT NOO today after not seeing any for a while I see another one.
I think maybe they’re coming from the fireplace. I live on the 3rd floore so I have windows at the very top op the wall that have a wood frame and wood things going across my ceiling. None of that wood is painted. I don’t know if that’s relevant or not but I’ve been doing some reading online.
So what should I do should I let this one die because theres no way I can get up there to kill it and I don’t want to look up there anyways I’m scared of bees and what if there’s more and they attack me?? SHould I let it die and pray that no more appear?
OR should I call maintence AGAIN?
The second time I called the lady said it’s expensive to exterminate bees and if there isn’t a problem they prefer not to exterminate which is probably they weren’t killed the first time I called.
They don’t bother me or fly around they just stay up in the windows.
And I keep my apartment warm all the time because of my newborn baby.
I got stung by a bee on Haloween. In the house. I found lots more. I’m not afraid of bees, but I recognize a problem. I was sitting there doing my quilting and I killed at least 8. In the house. And I actually felt bad. Right before I smashed each one I said I was sorry but it’s either me or you. This isn’t a chance happening that bees get in the house. They have to be somewhere. I’ve never had to call an exterminator before. What do they ask? Am I going to look like an idiot when I call? And what do I say? And if it gets really expensive will insurance cover it?
