Who thinks more should be spent to save the bees?

Just read a story on domestic honeybees dying out at an unsustainable rate. I am not overly concerned right now, but is $300,000 enough? How much does a mile of interstate highway cost? Interstates are very important, but would we miss 1 mile?
In my opinion, that one should be worth at least $10 million.

  2. The ‘colony collapse disorder’ is a HUGE problem in North America (where wild honey bees are virtually extinct) and Europe. It is potentially a billion dollar problem, as honey bees are necessary for the fruit and nut tree industry. Without bees, it’s ‘no more cherry pie’. In Australia (where the world’s last purebred Italian bees reside), it’s not yet a problem; but it can only be time before it is.

I understand that jealous guarding of industry ‘secrets’ by bee keepers helped spread the problem; so I think regulation is as important as funding.
