aside from being the one who harvested it from the hive, what are the other ways to detect the purity of honey?

  2. My neighbour collects honey regularly and lets me taste it. Real honey is so high in sugar levels that it solidifies should u leave it in its jar. Real honey tends to be darker in colour too. Now do NOT be tempted to warm the honey with steam or warm water when it solidifies. This is because nutrients are lost when coming to contact with heat. Break it down by using a spoon and it should return to its normal self.

  5. honey is usually adulterated with concentrated syrup of ghud or brown sugar . It is a viscous liquid , not wetting the surface of the container. It forms a globe let if taken on a plate. Test it by taking a spoon of honey in a small shallow vessel add 4 or 5 spoons of water . keep it for 3 to 5 minutes without disturbing. if the supernatant liquid is brownish, u can say it is adulterated with ghud which is easily soluble in water. if the supernatant liquid is colorless it is pure.

  9. THERE ARE ALOT OF DIFFERANT KINDS OF HONEY.. SO IT REALLY DEPENDS ON THE KIND.. HERE ARE SOME KINDS OF HONEY: Acacia -
    Alfalfa-Cotton-Cranberry-Dandelion-Gallberry -Grape-Mesquite-Mexican-Clover-Milkweed-Palmetto-Prune-Rape-Raspberry-Sage-Sourwood-Sunflower-Tupelo…
Although most varieties of honey crystallize after extracting, those that contain less than 30% glucose, such as tupelo and sage honeys, resist granulation. Many factors influence the crystallization of honey. Some batches of honey never crystallize, while others do so within a few days of extraction. Honey removed from the comb and processed with extractors and pumps is likely to crystallize faster than if it was left in the comb.1 Most liquid honey crystallizes within a few weeks of extraction. The tendency of honey to crystallize depends primarily on its glucose content and moisture level. The overall composition of honey, which includes sugars other than glucose and more than 180 identified substances such as minerals, acids and proteins, also influences crystallization. Additionally, crystallization can be stimulated by any small particles–dust, pollen, bits of wax or propolis, air bubbles–that are present in the honey. These factors are related to the type of honey and are influenced by how the honey is handled and processed. Storage conditions–temperature, relative humidity and type of container–may also influence the tendency of honey to crystallize. If you go by the bottle then check for an organic statment.. If you go by taste its all dependant on the kind.. try using the honey locator link I posted..

The label has to tell if there are additives in the honey. The purest honey is usually jarred with the honeycomb.

  20. Buy it from a reputable producer. There shouldn't be additives unless stated on the label. Failing that send it to a lab for analysis. There is an enormous variety in honey without there being any additives involved, light, dark, solid, runny, they can all be pure honey.

  21. People YOU CANNOT TRUST THE LABEL, labels can LIE. There is big money in counterfeit honey. It’s easy to make fake honey and most people can’t tell the difference. You cannot simply trust a particular company is giving you the WHOLE truth on a label. It is illegal to lie on the label, but if you never get caught…
