Ok so as a few may already know. My stupid brothers like to walk around the neighborhood at about 2 AM and visit unlocked cars and take whats in them. Now my questions is, Will the police check for fingerprints if someone reports it? Even if what he took was under 100$ and no actual damage was done to the car?
P.S- He might of learned his lesson lastnight because he almost got caught. I guess someone saw him and called the cops and they were swarming all the streets about 3am and he had to run from yard to yard just to get home. If anyone could answer the question regarding FINGERPRINTS i would appreciate it. Not bash and say how hes stupid. Thanks

Every department has its own budget and priorities. Each one is different. In my town, they would put a detective on it and some of the detectives would check but as cars are touched by all sorts of people there could be hundreds of prints in a single car. If there was something unique, like a box that got opened, then some of the cops in my town would check that box but others would not.

Depends where you are. In NYC they wouldn’t care. In my small town they would figure it out

Where do you live? If you live in a small town, than yes they will check if you guys are in the system than your screwed, if you live somewhere like NYC, Toronto, Highly densely populated areas, than no they wont even care enough to look over it.. Just save yourself the risk and wear GLOVES, and wear things that make you look more inviisble in the night e.g. a hat, black shirt, black shorts, etc.
heres a tip, since i use to do this .. when you check cars, make sure you look around you ALOT, its better to be safe than sorry, make sure no one is looking at u, even if they are jus starin, and dont go into houses with lights on, and dont go into streets if you see cars rolling, go later on in the morning like 3 AM TO 5 AM is the best time
