How come they use this to determine a persons destination at some point in time when this is very in accurate.
I watched 48 hours, and most of the cases used cell phone records that shows where the person is when he/she made the call. I cant believe the court accept this as evidence.
I gotta tell you this is very inaccurate!
I worked in Long Island City at 21st St. Queens bridge…I called my wife everyday, when I looked at our phone records, it shows that Im in the “Bronx NYC, NY” can you just imagine that? If phone records where being used as evidence in court???
Thats why I have some sympathy on those who were being convicted because of circumstancial evidence, and the phone records are mostly been used by prosecutors…
Again, phone records are not accurate, can you just imagine how far Bronx is from Long Island City?
Im at LIC but the records shows, Im at the Bronx???? hello…court justice should not allow phone records to be used as evidence that tells where the person is because its not accurate and could result in a wrong conviction….
What are your thoughts? Im just saying my own observation and I just want to help…I hope for your kind comments…Thank you…
EDIT:
I hope so that they compare our phone records on the detailed bill from that extensive phone records that you are saying…
I really hope that it is different…I really hope that cell phone records shown on court was at least 99% accurate…thanks for your inputs…
The location that shows for your caller ID is not the same as the GPS record of your location that’s available to the police. You don’t have access to the same call information as the phone company and the police.
I got my cell phone in a different state from where I live now but never changed the phone number. When I call people with my cell phone the caller ID always says “Alexandria, VA” even though I could be in Utah or Florida. If the cops were looking for me though they would be able to tell where I really was.

The records in court are not the same records on your phone bill. When they’re gathering the information as evidence, they subpoena MUCH more detailed information from the phone company. Modern phones have GPS locators in them, which will identify the cell phone’s location to within a few meters. Even with older phones, or ones where the GPS has been disabled, the phone company records will identify the specific cell tower/access point the call used (which will usually narrow it to within a few city blocks). That level of detail is not provided on your bill.
