I’m 18 years old and basically tired of living at my mother’s home. For all 18 years my mother has made my life hell. She makes me feel and calls me stupid or irresponsible but doesn’t try to help me improve. I have a job and she takes a lot of money from me to live with her (i.e. rent and cell phone bill). I have to pay her $100 for rent and $280 for the cell phone (paying off a big bill). For each day I’m late it’s an additional $5 per day. She is only letting me see my girlfriend 3 times a month because apparently my home life has to be my top priority. I’ve been working my ass off in school so she won’t have to pay for college (I’m fourth in my class) with scholarships. She basically always has me on a leash and always wants to keep her absolute control over my life so I get nothing and she gains everything I do. She plays these mind games where she seems like the responsible adult who is only looking out for my well being and acting like all she does is for my sake when really she can’t make it on her own or with her husband (step-father) and so I’m just an extra wallet for her. She’s like a queen and I’m her servant and if I don’t please her I get more and more taken away from me. I’ve had to do everything on my own from finding my job, having my friends teach me to drive because she doesn’t do anything to help, pay for my own expenses, study for school, everything. I understand that I’m 18 so I should be able to do this stuff on my own but c’mon I’m only human and it’s not like the second your turn 18 everything makes sense. Now my manager has her own place that she’d be willing to take me in. All I’d have to do is pay $50 a week (half of what I pay now at home), I’d have my own room in the attic, a few chores nothing major, no curfew, see my girlfriend whenever, she’d help me with my driving and school life, and she’s only about one or two years older than me. The only down side is that her and her roommate smoke and I do not, if I leave my mother would most likely not let me back (laughs a little), and I won’t see my other family (those on my mothers side, my dad’s side no problem ^-^). So should I stay at home with these conditions or leave to my managers house.

Oh yeeeeeaaaaah
Wooh!
Darling you got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
If you say that you are mine
I’ll be here ’til the end of time
So you got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
Always tease tease tease
You’re happy when I’m on my knees
One day is fine, next day is black
So if you want me off your back
Well come on and let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
An’ if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know!
This indecision’s bugging me
Esta indecision me molesta
If you don’t want me, set me free
Si no me quieres, librame
Exactly who’m I’m supposed to be
Dime que tengo que ser
Don’t you know which clothes even fit me?
¿sabes que ropas me quedan?
Come on and let me know
Me tienes que decir
Should I cool it or should I blow?
¿me debo ir o quedarme?
Split!
Yo me enfrio o lo sufro
Should I stay or should I go now?
yo me enfrio o lo sufro
Should I stay or should I go now?
yo me enfrio o lo sufro
If I go there will be trouble
Si me voy – va a haber peligro
And if I stay it will be double
Si me quedo es doble
So you gotta let me know
Pero me tienes que decir
Should I cool it or should I go?
yo me enfrio o lo sufro
Should I stay or should I go now?
yo me enfrio o lo sufro
If I go there will be trouble
Si me voy – va a haber peligro
And if I stay it will be double
Si me quedo es doble
So you gotta let me know
Pero me tienes que decir
Should I stay or should I go?

Quite honestly, I think you should go. You are 18 so you are technically an adult. So your mother can’t tell you not to go. You have a job and basically take care of yourself. It seems like your mom likes to keep control over you. So just give her like 2 weeks in advance before you move out or ask your manager when you can move in. That way your not gone before she comes home. So she won’t worry. All mother’s worry about their kids.

I lived with my father for 4 years and once I got out of school that’s the way it was for me. I could only see certain people who my father approved of (even though I was 18!). When I lived there I could not come home if I had anything to drink, even after I turned 21. If I did and he knew, boom, an extra $25 on my rent for the week. I fed myself, cleaned the house, and mowed the lawn (shoveled in winter). When I moved out I was paying $100 a week, which is way too much for a house you have no freedom in! If I were you, I would take your manager’s offer. After all, the money you save would give you a chance to find your own place. It’s only a temporary fix, not the rest of your life, right? Hope this helped, and good luck to you!

Go, I am pretty sure there are other local listings of rooms for rent! If you don’t want to live with smokers there are other people who rent out and don’t smoke!

Stay, life is not always as easy as it sounds. No body is promising you a rose garden in life, and it sure is not a bed of roses. Moving out on your own is a big step, hold off until you go off to university. It is not wise to become to involved with people that you work for or with. Do I know what I am talking about? My father threw me out at the age of 12, at the age of 69, I struggled to put myself through school, worked hard to support myself. I never ask anyone for anything.

According to what I read, you are pretty much responsible on your own. And admit it or not, is Thanks to your nasty mom….some mothers are soo good to their kids , that these ones turn into loosers, because everything is done for them. Comprende? so, on this one your mom being so strict is that now you appreciatte how much things cost and hard work to make money.
Many Congratulations on being the 4th in your class…Keep up the good Habits!!!!!
Now, to your question, yes, I would take the ooportunity with your manager, but be very careful…bussiness are bussiness and friendship is separate!!! if she smokes, close your door or better if she can smoke outside, indoors smoking is very dangerous!!! save money my friend! save as amuch as you can, put it in the Bank and forget about it! just feed the account and go into a budget!! this way, you could move one day and be independent! don’t leave your school! …..finish!! this is your #1 priority…because without a career or completed studies, in this world right now, you are nothing!! so , please do not leave school!!!
But again, yes, I would leave. Having a girlfriend, you need to keep an eye on your budget, do not be stupid by spending your savings on stupid little gifts or waist your study time into visiting and partying……..very clasic from some guys, you know how hard is to get where you are now…..in case you move…..BECAUSE if you fail…giess what? you are going to square one: you mother’s!!
Now, about the family, you can visit any time you want, you do not need permission from anybody.
Be smart.
Extra little note: I LOVE THE SONG!! SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO?????? hehehehehehe!!!
