Supervisor does not do job….and more?

I have a supervisor that has expressed to HR in front of me that she does not like me on a personal level but i do my job very well. Also, she supervises 2 employees (includes me) and has went through 5 employees (another position besides mine, I have been there for 4 years) in the 3 years she has been an Office Supervisor. She sleeps on the job, does her nails, takes 3 hours lunches, makes fun of her ex-employees by calling them very foul names, on cell phone constantly, misses work (sick) on a monthly basis and has myself and my co-worker do most of her work. My NEW co-worker was informed by our supervisor that i am a drama queen and to stay away from me. Everyone including other department supervisors would rather go to me for any department problems than her and that she fails to followup on any requests. HR has informed me that she is very jealous of me and has separated us in different offices. What rights do I have anymore especially when HR informs me in exact words, “She has a personal Vendetta Against You” and that I have not done anything wrong. The way it looks I either take it, or find another job. Any advice or any rights that I might have????

  1. i know this will be harsh but do this:

people dont usually like me for being bold! cant help it is in my nature

guess what someone did at on job i had many years ago she went and spoke to the head or office manager whoever is above your supervisor and told them everything that was going on and no one like her for a while but after that everyone did their job

i left a couple of jobs because of people like that and never said anything now i think what if i had said something i know i should have!

try it also make sure you bring up her good qualities if any and how it is affecting you and the others

other than that there is no other way to

or send in a letter without a name so they wont know who sent it

or next meeting suggest a box for opinions

  2. There are always two sides to the story. I am sure that if in fact the supervisor was doing all that you state, other employees would be complaining and/or upper management would notice. Drama Queen? Maybe!

Rights that you have? Stay and mind your OWN business or look for another job!

  3. You said it yourself, either take it or find another job. If you can find another job in this crappy economy, wouldn’t you have to have a reference letter from the witch? If so, you’re stuck there.

I’ve never been a brown noser, but girl, you know there are some times in life that you have to. This is one of those times. Do whatever it takes to get back in the good graces with this idiot. Even when you’re talking to her, you can think, “P*ss on you” with a smile on your face. But it will be stressful!!!

If you can transfer to ANY OTHER DEPTARTMENT including taking a small pay cut, it would be worth it. See about doing that.

demonstrate to the bosses that you would be a better supervisor.

  5. Very few people dislike someone for no reason. The fact that you feel picked on will matter not to the boss. I suggest you do your job, or find another. I have been an employer all my life. (retired now at 70) But I put people in charge who got the job done. No employee ever convinced me they were picked on. Normally, if they kept on complaining I would let them go.

  6. Short of looking for job elsehwhere:

    1. Right anonomamous letters that have proof of the boss’s problems. (assuming the problems warrnt action by her mgmt).
Problem that without real proof her mgmt might ignore the letter.

    2. Have a person nobody at work knows, do somehting to her to get her to quit. Problem with this is that you dont want to break the law… but there are many things you can have done that can make life bad for the person.

But there are legal remedies if her actions & attitudes are sufficent.
Some of your info, almost is workplace harrasement or even illegal in some small way.

In my own case I had a manager like that, except that she took credit for other peoples work….. but the trick was… several of the people she did this too were computer experts like me (she wasnt)… we started doing our work in such a way that it got complex enough that we started pooling the info and she could no longer figure out who did what… (to us it was obvious).

At this point the manager started dishing on all the people.
At this point she got fired by upper mgmt because she stated we were not doing the work, but when her mgmt showed up we gave her mgmt the cd and said that we had to archive the data in order to protect our work.

She was instantly fired despite being in the middle of major personal issues.

Me & another became co-managers of the department.
The other person became the boss later on because I transfered to programming group.

As a employer, the only time I will ignore a employees complaints is when its unproven and excessive.

Getting rid of a complainer often results in keeping the problem people on staff.

Just because I person is good at the job is not sufficent since most jobs can be retrained quickly.

Note to people in the world who do like the above supervisor.
You may very well incur major wrath when you unfairly hold a vendetta on another.

My own wife was fired for being the only person working at Worldcomm one day..(for about 3 hrs, my wife was the only person working and she told the manager that it wasnt her (my wifes) responsiblity to monitor coworkers whereabouts.

One of the major reasons worldcom failed is that it had underage mgmt in many areas (wifes boss was 19, when my wife&i were about 33).

Lots of times mgmt will ignore proper complaints as invalid or ‘bs’.

Rockwell for example mgmt there in my dept would ignore:
    1. Complaints that one person was always late.
    2. That this person constantly slept on the job.
    3. When a black CE harrassed me (nazi comments) I harrased back… I was told I was lieing (I sued the compnay with racial discrimination laws and won because I was taping it all back then).

Mgmt would constantly schedule me on weekends during a major move despite the fact I told them that I was in the middle of major family reunions)… I told mgmt that my coming in to work on weekends during this time, would require me to sleep on the job.

Was written up for sleeping on the job despite the fact that I told them preivoulsy it owould happen.
I fought this and went straight to HR and advised (on tape) what happend.. if not for the tape I might have been fired.

  7. This sounds like a harassment case. My advice:

    1. Keep doing your very well without complaint. Don’t give her a reason to attack on job performance. Don’t complain publicly.

    2. Keep a written record of all that goes on, with dates, witnesses and details.

    3. Contact your company’s anonymous reporting line. Most bigger companies have them,

    4. When all else fails contact a lawyer, but be prepared to look for another job, as you will more than likely be offered a settlement that includes resignation.
