OK, last year I was in a really bad place in my life. I had just recovered from medical problems that had caused a miscarriage, a divorce, and a layoff. Just when I thought there was no more hope, I heard a song that spoke to me. It gave me hope.

Since I had money from a severance package and the money my husband payed me to buy out my share of the house, I decided to follow the band, like some people do with the Grateful Dead. Now, this was a small Indy band that doesn’t typically HAVE groupies, so I got to know the band, which was cool. I even hooked up with a couple band members, which was kinda cool. That’s where the problem comes in.

I hooked up with the flute player a few times. Then the bagpipe player asked me out. Naturally I said yes, assuming he just wanted casual groupie sex and someone to buy him beer. (Like Timmy, the Flutist had). Turned out he wanted a real relationship.

Now, I had real medical reasons to think I probably couldn’t have kids, so I wasn’t real careful about birth control. I ended up pregnant. Recently my boyfriend (the Bagpiper) found out. A week later, he proposed. He said he would quit the band and join his Dad’s beekeeping business.

Now, this creates a dilemma for me. For one thing, I’m not 100% sure the child is his. I’m like 88% sure. For another, I feel this band is waaaay more important then any one of us, and I’d rather die then be the one to break it up. It saved my life, I want their music to be there for others. Also, while what we did was legal in this state, it turns out it would be illegal to be together in his home state.

Should I:
1.) Accept his proposal, and try to convince him to keep the band together
2.) Tell him the child might not be his.
3.) Get an abortion to save the band.
4.) Tell him I got an abortion and leave to save the band, then raise the child on my own.
