my dog has a strange swelling on one of her pads on the front foot.?

We noticed it one morning after a walk. I took her right away to the vet, cause i thought it was an abscess. The vet tried to extract some fluid or puss but all that came out was blood. The vet was not sure what to think because all the norms were now proven not to be the cause. The vet suggested we wait and see what happens. So far i have not seen any change as far as growth or shrinkage. It done seem to be sensitive to touch but it does not seem to affect her normal day to day life. To describe it is hard but i’ll try. At first glance you would say an abscess because it looks like puss under the skin. This spot seems hard to the touch like a chalice. As i said all that came out was blood during the test. I assume that my dog has had this for a while and it has been an extra week now and still no change in appearance. It has been suggested to have advanced testing done but this is very expensive, and it was pointed out that anything like cancer or common disease would have been known quite quickly. If anyone has heard of something like this or have any other suggestions let me know.

Non-aluminum Antiperspirant?

I’ve read a few studies that show that aluminum in deodorant can cause cancer. What are some brands that do not contain aluminum and are believed to be safer and just as effective? Thank you.

Do farmers that grow GE or GMO (genetically engineered) crops know about the hazards?

Monsanto has patents on seeds whose DNA they have modified. These genetically modified crops are destroying the ecosystem, producing foods that are giving us cancer, reproductive problems, allergies, resistance to antibiotics, and liver dysfunction as well as poisoning the soil. GE crops kill monarch butterflies, earthworms, bees, cows and chickens who graze in the ROUND UP fields, and will cross-mixed with “normal” plants in the environment thus eliminated natural plants. Monsanto sues (and wins) farmers who try to use the seeds from their produce of the patented seeds! TIn order to protect their patent, they have developed seeds that now are NOT CAPABLE of reproducing themselves forcing farmers to buy seeds from Monsanto each year.

If they DO know, is it because of profits that they continue to plant GE crops?
Don’t allow the governement to ignore our health concerns because of greed!

Does anyone have any depressing :) recommendations?

I love to read, but I find it hard to find a novel that really attracts my attention. I enjoy nonfiction books as well as fiction books that could pass as nonfiction. The topics that really grab my attention include: teenage pregnancy, cancer, HIV, AIDS, depression, diseases, suicide, testing friendships, natural disasters, etc. I prefer them to be in the viewpoint of teenagers. Journal/diary form is fine.
I’ve read the following books that I find meet these standards:
It Happened to Nancy
Aimee
Annie’s Baby
Go Ask Alice
Kim:Empty Inside
To Kill A Mockingbird
Cut
A Teen’s Guide To Living With Depression

I’d really appreciate any recommendations that you think I’ll enjoy.
