Serious Bee Problem….?

I have manicured (very leefy) bushes along the front of my home. About two months ago I went to trim a bush on the side of my home and was immediately confronted with a highly organized military sytle bee attack… I’m confident that these bees studied the “shock and awe” concept that was used in Iraq… (My attempt at humor)…

Anyway, I can’t see a hive because there are a tremendous about of leaves on this bush. As a whole it stands perhaps 4 ft tall X 4 ft wide. I live in Florida but the bees are definately not Africanized. A few dozen fly out but I haven’t been stung yet (as I would if they were the more dangerous variety).

My question… How in the hell do I get rid of these darn things so that I can trim my bush? As I said… I can’t see the hive to spray it with a chemical and I can’t get near the thing without immediately pissing them off. I tried soaking the tree withTriazide (or something like that) which is supposed to kill 140 or something bugs… didn’t work.
I’m confident that the nest isn’t in the ground. As soon as I touch the bush with the hedge trimmer they freak out.
They are dead… I used two suggestions from here… I looked retarded but I put on a long sleeve shirt (tucked into my jeans), put gloves on over the sleeves, pulled my socks up around my pant legs, and used a few T-Shirts to wrap my head up (except for my eyes). I pulled the branches of the bush down slowly with a couple of rakes that I had in the garage and exposed the nest (which thankfully was exactly where I looked the very first time). (Yellow Jackets with a paper nest)… I left the rakes in place and sprayed the heck out of the nest with some wasp/hornet killer… No more problem. I kind of feel like a wuss for not getting to them sooner but what can I say… don’t like bees…

Thanks for all the help.

home owners associations the new front on rights violations?

i have heard numerous things all over the country about home owners associations (hoa’s).

i have even heard they can seize your house for various reasons.

in my area you are not allowed to paint you house any color without approval and you are not allowed to have an unattached building on your own property.

some places i have seen do not allow certain types of cars.

the rules go on and on, from how high your grass, to the type of mail box, to even what dog you can own in your own house.

do you all feel this is right? my feeling is the hoa started out as a good thing that has turned into a power trip in the effort to control what others do.

they say its to protect “property values” but to me, unless it is a safety situation, nothing, even money, should trump property rights.

to me hoa’s are slowly but ever more encroaching on property rights, they say don’t mave there then, but so much land has been bought up for development, it is about impossible now.
there is getting fewer and fewer options on where to live that is not in an hoa. i have no problem where i am at, but they changed the rules after i bought the house.

i just think property rights is one of the fundemental great things about america, and it seems some bozos are trying to take that away from us, little at a time.

whats next, telling you what you are allowed to watch in your house? no “R” rated movies before 10pm?

Tiny Bees or other flying pests

I have a bunch of what seem to be very very small bees flying around the front of my house. They seem to be just hanging around the brick.

They are smaller than the size of a typical housefly.

any idea of what I may have or what I should do to rid the problem?

What type of flowers, plant, shrubs detract bees and/or wasps.?

I own a new home, and my landscaping the contractor did sucks….I have 3 large azeleas in the front of my porch, but the bees love them, and we can’t sit on our wrap around porch b/c all of the lanscaping the bees love, and the wasps love our porch. So I want to rip it all out, and replant An ATTRACTIVE Assortment of flowering plants and bushes that will keep all year long (not annuals) that detract bees and/or wasps. Thank You!
If you are going to continue to tell me to appreciate the flying insects who have put me and my son both in the hospital AFTER WE DID NOTHING but stand on our porch (literally just standing not moving, only talking) please refrain from answering! And NOPE we dont have wasps making nests, they just sworm around us. My husband has been stung NUMEROUS times in a months time, and I have been stung only once but was hospitalized because of it, and my son was stung and hospitalized! SO NO I DO NOT APPRECIATE THEM when I have a full garden in the back for them to do their job- and a full garden towards the front of the property! I want a bee free area for my family to enjoy without being hospitalized for no good reason! And no we dont swat, move abruptly, spray stuff at them etc. etc. I asked a simple question- AND YES THERE ARE SEVERAL PLANTS THAT DETRACT BEES….I Just can’t remember the name…. the nursery keeper told me about the, but the nusery is currently closed!

please give advice?

lately i have just bee feeling really depressed and out of it. i suffer from bipolar and i am on medication, so i don’t think that is the problem. i have a beautiful girlfriend who says she likes me, i am a senior and doing okay in high school, but something is missing. i just can’t get happy and i feel so down in the dumps. i don’t like to show how bad i feel in front of my girlfriend because usually i never feel this bad. so, i just fake like i’m okay around her. i feel like no one understands me. i don’t know what to do anymore and i just want to run away by myself, away from everybody i know.

i just got this girlfriend some days ago, but i’m afraid that if i keep feeling like this, she is going to leave me. i want to talk to her about it, but i don’t want her to feel like i am too much of a depressed person to be with.
