So my betta is royal blue color, but lately about 5 of his fins has gotten all white and it looks like it has a hole in that area. I have treated for fungus, bacterial infections and protozoan parasites but nothing seems to work. It doesn’t look much like a popular disease. My betta is in a 4 gal aquarium with filter and heater. I have been changing the water more often lately because of this, about a week ago it got a severe fin rot but now it seems to be regeneration. The water seems perfectly fine, but very often a slimy white thing appears in the tank mainly in the heater. Any1 knows what could this be? I’ve been with my betta 1 and a half year now and I really would like to bee with it longer so please give me a hand here.
I change about 25% of the water each week. I do know what cycling a tank is that’s why i took some gravel and water from his previous tank and added it to this tank, putted a live plant and waited a week before adding my dear betta. It’s been 4 months since then so yes… About the bacterial infection well, its the scales that are turning white and causing holes in the betta, does it sounds like fin rot to you? I used maracyn and maracyn 2 solving the actual fin rot it had but not this particular disease. I have not been adding medication for more than a month know and there’s no signs of it getting better.
Sorry for the title and the description saying white fins, I meant white scales, and this caused a hole in its body too. I have been researching for a while and not getting a good answer.
Well I already threated for fungus with the API fungus cure once, i guess i could try it again. It’s not like a white patch on the scales, is more like the scale itself turning white and falling off so it made a hole. About that new disease you said, I don’t think is that because my betta has been like this for a long time now, about 2 to 3 months, his behavior is perfectly normal, he is active and eats like a pig.
