Did the King Solomon worship the Jewish Jehovah, or the Babylonian Astarte?

I was reading about the recent archaeological discovery of a beekeeping industry in the Beit Shean Valley in Israel, dating from 3000 years ago or so. Which just so happens (I think) to be around the time of King Solomon.

The beekeeping = honey … which led me to muse on Moses’ enticing prospectus in Exodus about Canaan being “a land flowing with milk and honey”.

So, then I began to read about the association of ideas involved in this “flowing with milk and honey” hyperbole in the Ancient World. And, lo and behold, all of a sudden I’m back to Solomon and Astarte (or “Ashtoreth” in the Bible). Because, it seems, the “flowing with milk and honey” phrase could have had sexual connotations for the Ancient Semites; and could have been particularly associated with that earth-mother type goddess, Astarte.

This is one of those situations where a little reading becomes a dangerous thing. Can anyone set me straight, please?

Help: Cool reason why girl doesnt speak? ?(Story work)?

Im writting a fairy tale (childrens) about a young girl that dances in the village square. She is very talented, and is asked to dance for the King. When the King asks how she got so talented, she does not answer. The king then sends out a reward for anyone who can figure out why she cannot speak (She can). A young runaway prince hears about this reward for 1000 gold peices. The young prince ran away from home because his mother wouldnt let him marry who he wanted to unless he found someone she found suitable. Well, their was no one in his kingdom, so he went out elsewhere and became a theif to survive.’
Anyway, so he hears of this and is determained to figure out why the girl doesnt speak. He asks her if she even can, and she nods her head, yes. Well, he follows her home one day, where she lives with a small clan of witches who are wanted for being so. she brings home food and money from dancing. And he begins to understand why she doesnt speak to anyone. When he doesnt leave her alone, she finally starts warming up to him, but still doesnt speak.
Eventually, he finds out he loves her and she realizes that she loves him back. But she still doesnt speak. He brings her home to marry her, but his mother doesnt approve and she is thrown away in the dongeon. She dances in the cell, and the guards like how she dances, so they let her out into the court yard where she dances on chains. The mother watches, but still doesnt approve.
The King then visits her one day when the prince isnt, and asks her why she doesnt plead to leave, to go back home. She speaks the four little words he wasnt expecting. “Because I love him.” she stays because she loves him and if she goes home, she would never see the prince again. The Queen finds her to be real, and sets her free. They live happily ever after.

So if you guys could help me with the problem of WHY she doesnt speak…that would be great. And yes, she CAN speak, she just..doesnt. So its not like the witches she lives with put a spell on her or anything. Thanks, I really appreciate it guys! Oh and if you want to change anything, add anything or just criticize…I would love it. Thanks!
Forget I ever said ‘HE BEGINS TO REALIZE WHY SHE DOESNT SPEAK’ because he really doesnt. heh…oopsies! :/

How should I start my book?

My book is about a girl named Elinda. She is the princess of Enternia, an alternate universe. When her father, Lithum, goes of on a trip, he leaves the King and Prince of the other kingdom to watch over Queen Serah, and little Elinda. The night after Lithum leaves, the Dark Lord attacks! Night Wing kidnaps Elinda, and the Prince of Amber, Christalial. The Dark Lord keep them prisoner in a cell were time doesn’t exsist, and he takes away their memories so they are mindless bodies. After 82 years the Dark Lord decides to have the 2 children re-born into human families, while he figures out a way to obsorb Elinda’s powers. When Elinda is 12, she wonders into Eternia. Bright Wing, Night Wing’s twin brother (who is on the good side) finds Elinda, but he doesn’t recognize her. He brings her to King Lithum, and he asks Elinda if she would like to train as a warrior for him. She agrees. She is told that she must finish her training, and then go off to find the Princess Of Forever (Elinda, which at the time she doesnt know it herself). After training for 6 years, Lithum tells her that she is destined to save the world of Eternia. She has one month to decide if she wants to stay, and be Princess, or go back to the human world. She also finds out that her human boyfriend Chris is really Prince Chirstalial, Elinda’s long time friend. She decides to stay in Enternia, and she also gives Christalial his memories back. The night after Elinda’s corination, the Dark Lord attacks agian. This time they win and everyone is happy. YAY!!!

But how should I start it? Should I start when Elinda is human? When she is young in Eternia? How? And how do I stay motivated?

What cultural leassons do games such as King of the Mountain, Tag, or Keep-away teach kids?

What about a spelling bee? What about Monopoly and Risk? What about Old Maid? What social cues do each present to children?

Should I dump my bf of 5 years for another guy?

Okay. So I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 5 years now. We both started dating when we were 14 years old. High school sweethearts, prom king & queen, etc. Well once we graduated high school, I started working full time, and he went off to college. (We’re 20 now) Since he’s been off to college, he has changed completely. He hardly calls or textss me, and I have caught him in a few lies here and there. The past year has been horrible. We fight all the time. And we’re both just not happy. Well, where I work at, I met this guy. We talk on the phone while at work, so I thought he sounded super cute, and so I facebooked him, and found what he looked like and what not and messaged him. He’s 8 years older than me, never been married, no kids. Well, we met about 3 weeks ago, and have since hung out. He took me to church, took me and showed me how to play disc golf. Anywho, he is so super sweet. He pays for everything when we go out. See, my boyfriend doesn’t have a job. I pay for his cell phone bill, I pay for dinner all the time. So it’s nice to get treated good once in awhile. So I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I should leave my bf for this guy or just stay with him and try to make it work.

Your thoughts? It would really help me out.

I’ve only dated one guy my entire life & I’m 20 years old.
