How do I overcome my phobia of bees/wasps?

I appreciate what they do for our environment. I appreciate how bees pollinate flowers, and I absolutely love honey. I appreciate how wasps are predators for crop pests. The problem is, I’m terrified of them- more so wasps than bees. Thinking about being around a wasp, or several, literally gives me chills. When I’m actually around them, I just seize up and can’t really think about anything except keeping an eye on it and getting away if it comes too close.

I’ve tried learning about them, and I’ve tried thinking rationally about it. I know that they won’t bother me if I don’t bother them, and I’ve heard that they’re probably more afraid of us than we are of them. In the moment, it doesn’t really work out very well, and I have cried before when wasps have landed on me (though I did manage to stay still). If it was a switch I could turn on and off, I would gladly turn and keep it off.

It’s ridiculous and embarrassing, not to mention it takes the fun out of being outside and near places where there are wasps and bees. I want to start my own garden, but I haven’t, for obvious reasons. So, how can I overcome this phobia?

Used the wrong treatment on a bad scrape… what to do now?

I got a bad “raspberry” on my knee during a softball game at a company outing. I used the unfamiliar first aid kit to clean and dress the scrape. I used what I thought was an anti-bacterial no-stinging-pain wipe on my scrape. Except it stung SO BAD when I used it. I kept at it, knowing that I needed to clean it out properly. Then, eyes watering, I looked at the package again, and realized I was using “Bee/Wasp Sting Pain Relief” and it cautioned not to use on broken or raw skin. And that’s exactly what I’d done. The package gave no advice as to what to do now that I’d done that.

Now, it’s been about 18 hours and the center of my scrape is still raw – like, no scabbing has covered it up and it stings like nothing else. It feels like a fresh wound!

I don’t know if it’s just the scrape, or if it was because of using the stinging stuff on my knee, but it’s kept me awake all morning and it’s causing a constant, uncomfortable level 3 pain.

The ingredients are here:
Active Ingredients
Ethyl alcohol (50.0%)….Antiseptic
Lidocaine HCL (2.0%)….Topical Pain Relief

Inactive Ingredients
Benzalkonium chloride, menthol, purified water

Thanks everyone for your advice as to what I should do about this!

a bee or a wasp ness?

how much should it cost to have a bee hive removed on the outside of your house

I just got stung on the finger by a wasp.?

What is the best remedy I can use now?
Does the wasp die after stinging someone? I can see through
my window that it’s still working the wasp’s nest, so I don’t think so.
I was close to the wasp’s nest but didn’t
realize it was there as I was washing a
window and its nest was up in the left-
hand corner. Doo de: I don’t appreciate
being called stupid because I didn’t
realize the wasps’s nest was there.
Everyone else has excellent remedies
which is what I asked for.
I have since been very brave and took
out a can of wasp spray and I doused
it good. Sorry PETA.

How can I get over my extreme fear of bees and wasps?

I’ve always been scared of both since I was little. I didn’t really have a terrifying experience, but one time I was stung by a wasp on the school bus. Now I’m in high school and its getting pretty ridiculous how they control my life. Most of the time I go outside I run back in due to my immense fear of them.
