Why do animals have killer instincts while human beings doesn’t have?

Animals have deadly mechanisms how come human beings does’t have any- – - snakes have venom, bees can sting and infect the victim, dogs have rabbies, crocodiles can swallow children, lions can devour a young deer. Why do human beings seems defenseless?

  1. we don’t have any defenses because we have big brains and we make tools and weapons that make up for the lack of claws or fangs

  2. humans effectively traded in claws and teeth for larger brains – most mammals dont have venom like reptiles and insects, not all dogs have rabies (rabies is a disease, not an adaptation) – and as for the lions and the crocodiles – thats just how big they are :)
if a human was hungry enough it could devour a young deer.

so people have lost their other abilities that may have helped in the wild, simple because they dont need them anymore – we dont need to hunt to live or anything like that, so we cant run fast or lift heavier things :)

  3. Humans do have the instinct. Have you ever heard of the “fight or flight” reflex. If you or someone you are close to are threatened, you willl either fight or run.

  4. Because we have guns! We don’t need anything else. Plus, unless we are in Africa with the Lion, we are pretty much the dominate species. We don’t have to have as many natural defenses. Most of those animals need those things to eat as well and we can just go to the grocery store when we are hungry!

  5. Rabies isn’t a defense mechanism, its a disease which is extremely dangerous, a dog’s defense would be mainly fangs and a bit of its claws. Our ancestors, apes, and further back primates, defense was the ability to hide in trees. As we evolved we came down from trees (clearly) and eventually we became intelligent. A few of our defenses are: our ability to stand up right allows us to see further to avoid problems in the first place, and most importantly our brains. A lion is charging at you, there is no were to run, but luckily there are branches all around. Since we’re intelligent and our lineage has been for a very long time we can grab this branch and use it as a weapon. As well our social abilities which believe it or not reptiles don’t have, allow us to use numbers to our advantage.

  6. Actually we kind of do. Our brain is our defense mechanism. The human was the one who made weapons and understood these animals’ instincts so that we could hunt and kill in order to survive. I could go on with an entire essay, but you could easily ponder about how our brain is used as our defense mechanism and instinct.
