It’s been around since 1999, and has some authority which you can see from it’s PageRank. It looks like it changed to it’s new format in 2005. It’s authority may it help it some, but…
It’s not really a mirror. It has taken the information from many sources (including wikipedia and the old answers.com site) and created content based on those articles. So it is technically new content. It was actually a really good way to create new content. Not to mention the content can’t be changed by just anyone, so it is likely to be more accurate than the wikipedia.
