5 Frame Top Bar Hive Nuc

In the tradition of the top bar hive I am happy to be able to offer a top bar nuc. This top bar nuc has 5 top bars and is hand made with the same care as the top bar hive you can see in my other auction.

Nucs have several uses. The main one is raising new queens. That's why they are also called mating nucs. You can also use them to store queens or to keep a small colony in case you need brood for one of your other colonies. Nucs can be overwintered on their own in the South.

Simple and Maintenance-Free

The top bar hive nuc has only a few components: the hive body (box), 5 top bars (frames), and a lid. That's all you will ever need. Bees build their own comb which eliminates the need for costly frames. The top bars are exchangable with the top bar hive I am selling. Check my other auctions for details on the top bar hive.

Top Bar Hive Nuc Features

• hand made in the USA
• 100% stong, high-quality cedar board including lid (no cheap metal or plastic!)
• exterior screws (no cheap nails or glue)
• The outside has been sealed with a high quality wood sealer. The inside is not painted and should remain so.
• The Nuc has 5 bars which have been started with wax to help the bees start the comb in the right place.
• This Nuc is new and has never been used.
• about 14" long by 21" wide by 14" high
• The bottom board is inside the side walls which helps rain water run off the side without water seeping into the floor board.
• The lid sits on a one inch raised board to allow for good ventilation.
